Don't think that would have happened 5 years ago. Maybe not even 2 years ago.Beerguy101http://www.blogger.com/profile/16444418770538847755noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4300225915023489333.post-82458850732663594492012-01-01T21:24:00.000-08:002012-01-01T21:26:39.436-08:00Happy New Year 2012Looking forward to 2012. I think it might be on of the more amazing craftbeer years ever. What with all the new breweries opening and the old standards poised to crank out some EBB (Even Better Beer) than last year. Sorry liver I will try and be good to you.Beerguy101http://www.blogger.com/profile/16444418770538847755noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4300225915023489333.post-56824095367084240042011-12-24T21:41:00.000-08:002011-12-24T21:42:27.645-08:00Merry x-masIts been a slow year beer wise for me. It is interesting that so much of ones impression of a beer has to do with outside factors. The temperature, what kind of day you had, even what you ate for dinner all have an effect on the beer you are drinking. Of course it is up to you to be able to separate those 'outside influences' in a beer evaluation, but there are times that its very hard and nearly impossible to do so. The question then is, should you worry about those or just add them to the evaluation?Beerguy101http://www.blogger.com/profile/16444418770538847755noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4300225915023489333.post-39020441216413483462011-07-03T15:22:00.001-07:002011-07-03T15:23:00.199-07:00Happy 4th of JulyDon't forget to drink American this weekend. One of the more interesting comments is that they are the 3rd largest employer in Chico, behind Chico State University and Enloe Hospital, with over 640 employees. The tour is very basic but the artwork in the brew area is amazing. I will post pics sometime soon. Part of Ken Grossmans Bottle collection is also on display, some pretty nice old beer bottles including all the early Sierra Nevada Bottles. Why Chico one may ask?

Well for one I haven’t been to this part of California in like forever. And two it gives me an excuse to visit Sierra Nevada Brewing.

You know you are close to Sierra Nevada Brewing when you pass the experimental hop yard. The place is VERY large, although you might not realize that at first. The place is very spread out and no where seem cramped or crowed. Just stopped at the taproom restaurant today. Sampled a couple of the Audition beers, half pints in a dimpled mug were $2.75. The food was good, a slightly step above the usual good BrewPub food. The burger was fresh ground beef and the fries were cooked in fresh hot oil. Service was excellent, the waitress allowed be time with my first beer before asking if I wanted to order food. Going to try and go by for the tour tomorrow. I did have to stop in the gift store and limited my beergeek purchases to a Mouse pad and a nice metal bar bottle opener.

Beerguy101http://www.blogger.com/profile/16444418770538847755noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4300225915023489333.post-58346800445478572862010-06-08T21:27:00.001-07:002010-06-08T21:27:53.299-07:001001 Beers....Anyone read "1001 Beers you must taste before you die" ?
A nice book, and if anyone is asking, NO I have not counted how many of the 1001 I have tasted...

YET.....

My 1st guess would be around 50%
Beerguy101http://www.blogger.com/profile/16444418770538847755noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4300225915023489333.post-5254954102793058192010-05-23T19:19:00.001-07:002010-05-23T19:19:57.897-07:00RBTOTD- May 22
It is time to start these up again.. so

after moving around and looking at beer all day, I think it is time to drink some beer...Beerguy101http://www.blogger.com/profile/16444418770538847755noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4300225915023489333.post-79659281691421651902010-05-23T12:13:00.001-07:002010-05-23T12:13:49.445-07:00Beer Geek act of the dayA moment of total Beer Geekdom. Cascade, Chinook, and Nelson Sauvin. Its interesting how a single hop variety can change the taste of an IPA. They also really let you taste the differences. The Chinook was a high alpha acid bitter hop, the Cascade was grapefruity and the Nelson Sauvin? I still dont have a good feel for this hop. It has a very different fruity, citrusy and yet somehow woody flavor to it.Beerguy101http://www.blogger.com/profile/16444418770538847755noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4300225915023489333.post-41842546003272180202009-12-21T10:19:00.000-08:002009-12-21T10:20:47.203-08:00Why Geologists Love Beer<h3 class="UIIntentionalStory_Message" ft="{"type":"msg"}" style="font-size: 13px; color: rgb(51, 51, 51); margin-top: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; padding-top: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-bottom: 0px; padding-left: 0px; font-weight: normal; overflow-x: hidden; overflow-y: hidden; ">Speaking from personal experience I know this to be true
<h3 class="UIIntentionalStory_Message" ft="{"type":"msg"}" style="font-size: 13px; color: rgb(51, 51, 51); margin-top: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; padding-top: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-bottom: 0px; padding-left: 0px; font-weight: normal; overflow-x: hidden; overflow-y: hidden; ">
<a href="http://www.wired.com/wiredscience/2009/12/15943/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" onmousedown="UntrustedLink.bootstrap($(this), "4cb8cc4a6cd3cd5c8ff7c5c0cdb8dada", event)" style="cursor: pointer; color: rgb(59, 89, 152); text-decoration: none; ">http://www.wired.com/wiredscience/2009/12/15943/
Beerguy101http://www.blogger.com/profile/16444418770538847755noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4300225915023489333.post-64964994672393670212009-10-11T19:06:00.000-07:002009-10-11T19:12:02.293-07:00RBTOTD- Oct 11thThis was from Friday but anyway.

I just noticed that Dieu du Ciel beers all seem to be 11.5oz bottles in the US.
